Now your UPI (Unified Payment Interface) will not be free. You may have to pay money for using it. Actually, from August 1 (UPI New Rules 1 August) big changes are going to happen in UPI, which will directly affect your pocket.
These include many rules like charges for checking balance repeatedly and penalty for transactions exceeding the limit (UPI balance check limit). If you are a UPI user then it is very important for you to know about these changes. So let’s know one by one what are those changes?
What will change in UPI?
There are going to be five major changes in UPI from August 1. These include:
- Balance Check Limit
- Autopay on time
- Limit on payment reversal
- Limit in checking payment status
- Limit on viewing transaction history
1. Balance Check Limit
Till now UPI users can check their balance as many times as they want in a day. But now a limit has been imposed on it. From August 1, a user will be able to check balance only 50 times in a day. According to NPCI (National Payments Corporation of India), this limit has been kept so that there is no pressure on the server during other important payments and there is no hindrance in UPI payments.
2. Autopay on time
Usually, money gets deducted from autopay anytime in 24 hours. But now this facility will work only before 10 am and from 1 pm to 5 pm. After the stipulated time, you will not be able to do any transaction. That means you may face problems in this. Especially for those payments which you have set on autopay. Like SIP through UPI, digital investment or payment of OTT app.

3. Limit on payment reversal
Now a limit has been set for chargeback i.e. getting the payment back. Now every user can request chargeback only 10 times in a month. And you can ask for money back from any one person or company only 5 times.
4. Limit in checking payment status
Usually users check payment status after making payment several times a day. NPCI has put a limit on this as well. That means now you will be able to check payment status only 3 times in a day. There must be a gap of at least 90 seconds between them.
5. Limit on viewing transaction history
Now every user will be able to check his bank account details only 25 times in a day from any one app. This has put a limit on repeatedly checking the balance or viewing the transaction history.
