New Rules: This big rule related to credit card is changing from July 1, it may have a direct impact on you

HDFC Bank Credit Card New Rules: HDFC Bank is going to change some of the credit card charges, which will be effective from July 1, 2025. These changes will affect transactions related to online gaming, wallet loading, utilities and insurance.

Online Gaming

Customers who spend more than Rs 10,000 every month on online skill-based gaming platforms like Dream11, Rummy Culture or MPL will have to pay a 1% fee. This charge will be applicable on the total monthly gaming expenditure and its limit will be Rs 4,999. The bank said that reward points will not be given on these transactions.

Credit card users who load more than Rs 10,000 every month in third-party wallets like Paytm or Mobikwik will also be charged a 1% fee. This charge will be applicable on the total wallet-loading amount and its limit will also be maximum Rs 4,999.

Utility Payments

If more than Rs 50,000 is spent every month through consumer card or Rs 75,000 through business card, then 1% fee will be levied on utility payments. This charge will be applicable on the entire utility expenditure and its maximum limit will be Rs 4,999. The bank said that insurance payments will not be considered utility transactions.

Meanwhile, the limit of charges on rent, fuel and education payments has also been changed. However, the 1% charge will remain, but the maximum charge per transaction will be Rs 4,999. The charge for fuel will be applicable only when the transaction amount is more than Rs 15,000 or Rs 30,000. This charge for education will be applicable only when the payment is made through a third party app. This charge will not be applicable on payments made directly to schools or colleges.

Insurance

The limit of reward points will be fixed on insurance transactions. Up to 10,000 points will be available every month on Infinia and Infinia Metal cards. There will be a limit of 5,000 points on Diners Black and Bizz Black Metal. Most other cards will have a limit of 2,000 points.
